Works Fine, Not as Bad as the Reviews Say

Strengths:

Great value. Read/write speed as expected. Looks very sharp, fits without front panel gaps Header cable is nice and long with a secure connection. No issues with reliability so far.

Weaknesses:

The build quality is fairly mediocre. Inserted cards protrude more than other readers I've seen, leaving them a bit prone to being bumped. The CF slot could have tighter guides to prevent card wiggle and misalignment. 5.25" adapter is not included.

Additional Comments:

This reader doesn't deserve the 1/5 rating on MemX - check the Amazon reviews and you'll see that the majority of people are perfectly happy with it. However, you definitely have to be gentle inserting and removing cards, and the general design of the CF interface has always been prone to bending pins. You can thank CF for that one; don't blame Vantec. Worth mentioning that the card and LED layout of the one I received is different from this product image so Vantec has probably made some revisions/improvements over time.

?

Strengths:

Seems to work fine, CF slot included

Weaknesses:

Care needs to be taken when inserting a CF card. Though sounds like some the other Reviewers are Hamfisted,

Additional Comments:

Having the reader in the case, makes it much more convenient than having one on a USE cable cluttering up the Desk

Works if you don't need the CF Slot

Additional Comments:

It works if you don't need the CF slot. Also the USB connector to the motherboard does not fit smoothly.

Works for a while

Strengths:

Looks good Easy to install

Weaknesses:

CF slot broke within the first month, then after about 4 months of use it won't detect any cards of any type until I reboot my system,

Additional Comments:

There isn't that many options out there, but I wouldn't recommend this as one of them

Didn't last

Strengths:

When it works, it's convenient for copying files from a memory card, as well as having a usb 3.0 port present.

Weaknesses:

It failed after a year. The power light keeps on flashing on and off. The computer keeps playing the sound it makes for when a device connects, then disconnects.

Crappy card reader

Strengths:

None

Weaknesses:

The guides for the CF card slot are inadequate and one broke off after the third use. Just a bad design.

Additional Comments:

Don't buy this unit. Make sure the guides for the CF slot are long and sturdy on others..
