I think they are probably one of the best drives around. 1 gig is fine.Looking at the hard drive smart specs of 2 of mine i see my on time for one is only 43,248 hrs.
Thats my newest one,the on time for my older one they don,t think is real,lol.Oh,i always have a seperate cooling fan blowing on them so temp is approx. 30 c.

I've used these drives 3 times over the last 7 years and all three drives died. Never buying another WD Black HD. Warranty means nothing if your data is gone. I've used these drives for backup and then removed them from the system at times so they just sat in their original box till the next backup cycle. The drives didn't even get recognized by the bios. They were dead.

Strengths:
These drives come with a 5 year warranty, are very fast, and extremely reliable. I use theses drives for many years and have never had any issues. If you are considering purchasing a new 1TB drive, I wouldn't look at any other brands or types (ie red, blue, green).
