This USB 3.0 to Ethernet / RJ45 just works. Plug it in, wait a few seconds and you are wired to go. Independent of that, it's also great having 3 USB ports on the hub after loosing one on your device when plugging it in. I was able to plug mouse USB dongle into it while I was not demanding on the network connection and had smooth performance. Despite the weaknesses I discuss I still think this is a good buy. You just need to plan when you use each port/network so they don't significantly impair each other.

Be aware that while you will be able to network/wire your device and have more USB ports, they don't work well together. When I had no USB device plugged in, I got full network performance. When I plugged a laptop cooling pad (so power only, no data) my network performance cut by 1/3. When I was participating in an online meeting and had my mouse USB dongle plugged into it, my mouse movement stuttered. Knowing this slightly offsets the additional cost for this adapter vs the ones that only have the RJ45 port since you can't use multiple ports at 100% at the same time. I tested this on 2 laptops (both with limited USB ports) to confirm this pattern.

Overall I think it is a good buy just be aware it doesn't share ports well.

Works simply plugging into a Windows 10 PC laptop that has dedicated Type A USB ports. Could not get product to work when I tested plugging into my MacBook Pro. Does not work using a USB-A to USB-C hub for a Macbook Pro 2017 laptop that does not have any USB Type A ports. NOTE: However when using a USB-C Ethernet Adapter I own, the Ethernet connection is recognized when plugged into the laptop, and other USB Type A devices plugged into the Hub works on my MacBook Pro so the Hub works as expected. Unless you have a device that has a USB Type A port, then this product may not work.

Worked great - I just plugged it in and it simply worked. Since the ethernet on my motherboard died with no access to the internet, I was worried about how I'd have to download some driver to a USB key or something, and do a manual transfer, etc. But I just plugged this into my Windows 10 PC and it just worked. No need to even touch Windows Settings or anything - was thoroughly surprised and happy.
