Avoid

Strengths:

Small form factor, easy setup, quiet.

Weaknesses:

Ports will randomly drop, requiring you to reseat the connection. Seems to get worse over time with the age of the switch. This is obviously a major problem. I had similar issues with the previous model of DLink unmanaged switches, I would never buy this product line again.

Additional Comments:

Look elsewhere and avoid this line of DLink switch types.

rma-not reliable

Weaknesses:

dead ports, required reconeecting ports frequently to re-establish network connections caused delays websurfing/ latency issues. without it.....my network is blazing fast!

Additional Comments:

after 16 hours of trouble shooting and $300 onsite technical service.....dead on arrival. back to ME. I do not recommend this switch.

Does what it does

Strengths:

Fast, Easy, Plug and Play, Quiet (no fan in newer version)

Weaknesses:

NONE

Additional Comments:

Unlike the other review if your switch is not plug and play there is either something wrong with your network or switch and that can happen with any product.

Junk

Strengths:

none

Weaknesses:

It loses connection frequently and is a nightmare to get restarted. It is not "plug and play" as advertised. Connections must be unplugged and replugged to be recognized. Don't buy this switch.

Additional Comments:

Last D-Link product I buy.

Great Product

Strengths:

- Does what it is supposed to do
- Snap to set up and install
- No problems at all, solved network "bottle-necking"
- Has a cooling fan

Weaknesses:

- Does not fit our rack mount :(

Additional Comments:

The switch runs 24/7 and has not had any issues - I have not had to reboot it once yet.
You can't go wrong with this switch.
